안녕하세요. 2학기도 벌써 중반에 접어들고 있습니다. 올겨울은 유난히 따뜻한 날들이 많이 있었습니다만, 아무쪼록 환절기에는 감기 조심하시기 바랍니다. 이번 소식지에서는 지난 2월 11일에 있었던 설날잔치 소식과 3월, 4월에 있을 행사에 대해 안내말씀 드리겠습니다.

Hello! It is already the middle of the second term. We are having a mild winter this year. Nevertheless, please be careful of a cold in this time of changing seasons. This newsletter summarizes the Lunar New Year event and announces the events scheduled for March and April.

문화체험 및 한글학교 기금마련 설날잔치 Cultural Experience Day & Lunar New Year Fundraiser

2017년2월 11일 토요일 오전에 다양한 문화체험을 할 수 있는 문화교실이 있었습니다. 유치1, 2, 한국어1, 2반 학생들은 바람개비 만들기, 절하기, 투호, 부채에 그림그리기를 체험하였고 한국3반부터 성인3반 학생들은 서예, 제기만들어서 차기, 절하기, 팽이치기, 그리고 투호를 하며 전통적인 설날놀이를 접할 수 있었습니다. 또한12시부터 2시까지 대강당에서 여러 대내외 귀빈들과 손님들을 모시고 설날잔치가 있었습니다. 연아마틴 상원위원, 그리고 로쉘 스콰이어스 문화체육부 장관, 명예영사이신 배리 캠펠님께서 동영상과 인사말을 통해 한글학교의 번영을 기원해주셨습니다. 그 외에 리버하이츠의 시위원 존 올리코브님, 중국학교장, 교감, 일본문화원 대표, 참전용사님들, 노인회장님과 노인회원분들, 한인회장님, 실업인협회장님, 문화회장님, 위니펙대학교 한국어 영어회화 동아리인 켈렉 친구들, 그리고 학부모님들과 그 가족 친구들이 오셔서 자리를 빛내주셨습니다. 매 공연이 끝날때마다 열정적으로 박수를 치시는 관중들 덕분에 공연을 준비한 저희 학생들과 찬조팀들이 더욱 분발할 수 있었습니다. 또한 여러단체와 개인분들이 여러 모양으로 기부를 해 주셔서 소중한 기금을 마련할 수 있었습니다. 기획 진행을 맡아주신 설날준비위원회, 이사진, 교사진, 자원봉사자들, 그리고 음식바자회에 정성스런 음식을 보내주시고 기꺼이 행사진행에 봉사해주신 학부형님들 감사합니다.

On the morning of February 11, the School hosted the cultural experience day. Students from Kindergarten 1, 2, Korean Class 1, and 2 enjoyed manufacturing a pinwheel, learning New Year prostration, throwing arrows, and drawing on a fan. Students from Korean Class 3 to Adult Class 3 experienced calligraphy, manufacturing Jeggi, learning the New Year prostration, playing spinning tops and throwing arrows. From 12pm to 2pm, there was the annual Lunar New Year Fundraiser at the senior gym. The Honorable Senator Yonah Martin, and the Minister of Sports, Culture, and Heritage, the Honorable Rochelle Squires and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea, Barry Rempel sent the School community their best wishes through video greetings and in public addresses. In addition, the City Councilor for River Heights and Fort Garry, John Orlikow, the Chinese School, the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba, the Korean War Veterans Association and the Joint Veterans Association, the Korean Seniors’ Association, the Korean Society, the Korean Business Association, the Korean Heritage Cultural Association, the Korean English Language Exchange Group of the University of Winnipeg, and the parents and their guests shared our most popular holiday. Their cheerful applause made the performers happy and more enthusiastic. The School was also able to raise funds, thanks to the contributions from the Korean community and from other communities and guests in monetary, in-kind and other efforts. The New Year Planning Committee and Board members, staff, teachers and volunteers, who planned and executed the event and those parents, who donated delicious dishes and prepared the food, deserve our sincere appreciation.

백일장 Creative Writing Competition

작년에 이어 백일장 글짓기대회를 진행합니다. 원래는 백일장 당일에 학생들이 글짓기를 하여 제출을 하는 것이 원칙이나 한글학교의 사정상 학생들이 집에서 준비하여 3월 18일까지 제출하도록 했습니다. 학생들에게 배부된 원고지에 최종글을 집필할 수 있도록 해 주시기 부탁드립니다. 원고지가 더 필요한 경우 임원진에게 추가로 요청하시면 됩니다. 원고지 작성법은 수업 중에 담당교사들이 지도해 주십니다. 학생들이 학부모님들의 도움없이 자율적으로 자유롭게 글을 쓸 수 있도록 해 주시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 백일장 공모내용은 다음과 같습니다.

공모대상: 유치1, 2, 한국어1, 기초성인1반을 제외한 한글학교 전 학생과 전 보조교사

공모내용: 시, 수필, 소설

주제: 자유주제

분량 (200자 원고지 기준): 시: 1-3매 내외          수필: 1-5매 내외            소설: 10매 내외

시상내역: 전교 최우수상 한 명, 으뜸상, 버금상, 장려상, 특별상, 참가상

심사내용: 독창성, 창의적인 사고, 창의적인 표현, 주제에 대한 이해, 바른 글씨체

마감일: 3월 18일 수업시간

Following last year, the School is holding a Creative Writing Competition. Students can prepare texts and submit them by March 18. Please ensure that you and/or your children use the special papers (200-syllable papers) distributed for the final version of the work. If you need more of these papers, you can request them from the staff. Each homeroom teacher will teach the students how to use the special paper. I would also like to advise you not to interfere in the students’ work, but to let them write freely on their own. The adult students are advised to write their own essays as well. Below are the details for the writing competition.

Participants: All students except for Kindergarten 1, 2, Korean Class 1, and Basic Adult Class 1 & all volunteers

Genre: Poem, essay, novel

Topic: Free topic

Quantity: Poem: Approx. 1-3 pp.; essay: approx. 1-5 pp.; novel: approx. 10 pp. (200-syllable paper)

Prizes: Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Special Prize, Participation Prize

Evaluation criteria: Originality, creative thinking, creative expression, understanding of the topic, penmanship

Deadline: March 18

말하기 대회 & 한국 역사 문화 퀴즈 Speech Contest & Quiz on Korean history and culture

말하기 대회가 심사위원님들과 학부형들을 모시고 진행됩니다. 96호 교실에서 유치1반부터 성인3반까지 차례대로 진행됩니다. 참여가 끝난 반이나 대기하고 있는 반은 각 반의 원래 교실에서 그동안 배웠던 수업내용 중에서 각 반의 수준에 맞는 한국 역사 문화 퀴즈를 반 별로 진행하게 됩니다. 한국어4반과 5반은 교실이 부족한 관계로 교실 98호에서, 성인2반과 3반은 101호에서 합동 퀴즈를 합니다. 우리 학생들이 그 동안 갈고 닦은 한글과 문화 역사에 대한 실력을 보여줄 수 있도록 부모님들의 각별한 협조 부탁드립니다. 그리고 성인반 학생들도 이 기회를 통해 자신의 실력을 스스로 평가해보는 기회를 갖도록 많은 참여 바랍니다.

일시 및 장소: 4월29일 오전 10시-12시, 96호 (말하기대회) ; 원래교실 (퀴즈)

참가대상: 전교생

대회방식: 4월 22일 10-11시 반별 예선대회: 전교생 / 4월 29일 전교 본선대회: 예선 통과한 학생

주제: 자유주제(백일장 원고를 구문으로 바꿔서 사용 가능)

시상내역:

            최우수상: 어린이반, 성인반 중 최고득점자 한명씩 수여
