안녕하세요.

2014-15 학년도도 시작한 지 벌써 두달이 지나가고 있습니다. 이제 모든 한글반과 특활반이 어느정도 안정이 되었습니다. 모든 임원진과 교사진 자원봉사자들이 학생들의 한국어 교육과 다양한 특별활동을 효율적으로 하기 위해 새로운 방법을 모색하여 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 모쪼록 환절기에 감기 조심하시고 건강한 모습으로 매주 학생들을 볼 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.

이번 소식지에서는 11월과 12월에 있을 소식을 전해드리겠습니다.. 11월은 휴교가 없이 매주 수업합니다. 그리고 12월 13일이 이번학기의 마지막 수업일이 되겠습니다. 성탄절 방학을 마치고 1월 10일에 다시 개학합니다.

Two months of the 2014-15 school year have passed already. By now, all Korean language and culture classes are progressing normally. All staff, teachers and volunteers do their best to effectively teach and assist students in their efforts at learning the Korean language and in various activity classes. I would like to see students every week in their best condition; so please stay healthy.

This newsletter introduces the programs scheduled for November and December. The classes will be held every week through December 13. School starts again on January 10 after three weeks of Christmas break.

 학부모/성인반학생 면담: 11월 1일 ~ 22일 Parent/Adult student-Teacher meeting: November 1st ~ 22nd

연중 행사인 학부모/성인반 학생 면담이 11월 1일부터 22일에 있습니다. 각 반 담당교사가 부모님들 내지 성인반 학생들과 사전에 면담일정을 정하실 겁니다. 가능하면 학부모님들께서 방과 후에 학교에 오셔서 면담하시는 게 가장 좋지만 사정이 여의치 않으실 경우 전화상으로라도 꼭 면담을 하시기 부탁드립니다. 한국어1반만 담임교사의 개인 사정으로 인해 1월 중에 면담을 실시하오니 착오 없으시기 바랍니다.

The annual Parent/Adult student-Teacher meetings are taking place from November 1^stto 22^nd. Each homeroom teacher will make arrangements with the parents of his/her students and the adult students for a meeting. It would be best if the parents could come to school and discuss the children’s progress in person. However, if it doesn’t work, I would like to kindly ask you to consult with the teacher on the phone. Only Korean Class 1 will have the meeting in January, due to the teacher’s unavailability in most of November.

중간고사 및 방학식: 12월 13일 1, 2교시 수업; 12시 방학식, 카페테리아 Term test, 10am-12pm & Term End Ceremony 12pm-1pm, December 13, Cafeteria

12월 13일이 이번 학기 마지막 수업일입니다. 1, 2교시에는 복습과 중간고사가 있고12시에 카페테리아에서 방학식이 간단히 있을 예정이오니 많은 참석 부탁드립니다. 내년 1월에 대학에 입학하는 남궁수지 졸업생의 장학금 전달도 있겠습니다.

성적은 시험 (40%)뿐만 아니라 수업태도 (10%), 숙제 (20%), 출석률 (30%)등이 포함됩니다. 1분이라도 늦게 오는 경우 지각으로 간주됩니다. 6월에 있을 종업식때 많은 학생들이 개근상을 받을 수 있으면 좋겠습니다. 그리고 숙제는 한 번 안 해 올때마다 점수가 1점씩 깍입니다. 1학기 성적표는 1월10일에 배부됩니다.

The last class in this term is on December 13. The term test will take place during regular classes and will be followed by the Term End Ceremony at 12pm at the Cafeteria. I hope that many parents come to the ceremony. One of our graduates, Hannah Namgung, will receive a scholarship for her admission at a university starting in January 2015.

The grade will be evaluated based on the test (40%), behavior in class (10%), homework (20%) and attendance (30%). Class starts punctually at 10 am. Those, who come late for even one minute, are considered late. I hope to see many students receive Attendance Awards at the Year End Ceremony in June. Those, who do not submit their homework, will lose one point for each time they do not submit their homework. The report cards will be distributed on January 10.

9월부터10월 까지 기부자 명단 Donors’ list from September to October

지난 9월 1일 골프협회에서 한글학교 기금마련을 위한 골프대회를 한 후로 지난 두 달동안 저희 한글학교 회계사이신 Lorraine J. Cornelsen님, Sushi Place, 변지석 한글학교 이사님, 이종석 문화회 총무님께서 기부를 해 주셔서 총 559.90불이 모였습니다. 정말 감사드립니다. 학교 운영과 행사에 소중하게 사용하겠습니다.

For the past two months, after the Golf Competition Fundraiser for our School on September 1, the accountant for our School, Ms. Lorraine J. Cornelsen, Mr. Jongsuk, Lee, the Treasurer of the Korean Culture Heritage Association, Mr. Jisuk Byun, our School Board member, and Sushi Place have made generous donations. A total of $559.90 has been donated. The School community extends its sincere gratitude to the above donors. The donation will be used for the operation of the School programs and events.
