안녕하세요.
봄이 성큼 다가왔습니다. 따뜻한 봄날씨를 즐기고 계신가요? 이번 학년도의 마지막 소식지입니다. 우선 지난 3월에 있었던 백일장 글짓기 대회와 4월28일에 진행된 말하기대회 소식과 수상자 명단을 올립니다. 그리고 5월, 6월에 있을 행사에 대해 안내말씀 드리겠습니다.

Hello. It is spring! Are you enjoying this gorgeous spring weather? This is the last newsletter for this school year. First, I would like to report about the Creative Writing Contest and the Speech Contest, and announce the winners. Then, the events scheduled for May and June will be announced.

백일장 글짓기 대회 The Creative Writing Contest

백일장 글짓기 대회가 3월에 진행되었습니다. 다양한 소재와 주제를 다루어 감동을 주는 훌륭한 글들이 많이 제출되었습니다. 글의 종류에 구분없이 학생부 (총 25작품) 과 보조교사부 (총 5작품) 로 나누어 심사를 하였습니다. 바쁘신 와중에도 모든 작품들을 읽고 심사해주신 권기풍 심사위원장님, 이종석 한글학교 이사장님, 최지영님, 김인범님께 감사말씀 드립니다. 다음은 수상자 명단입니다. 수상식은 6월 9일 종업식때 거행할 예정이오니 많이 참석하셔서 축하해 주십시요.

The Creative Writing Contest was held in March. Many impressive works on various topics were submitted. The compiled writings were categorized into either a student-group (total of 25 works) or volunteer-group (total of 5 works) and evaluated accordingly. I would like to express my appreciation to the judges for their patience and painstaking effort: Mr. Kipoong Kwon, Chair of the Judges, Mr. Jongsuk Lee, Chair of the Board of the Manitoba Korean School, Ms. Jiyoung Choi and Mr. Inbeom Kim. Below is the list of the winners of the Creative Writing Contest for 2017-18. Prizes will be awarded at the Year End Ceremony on June 9, 2018.

말하기대회 및 퀴즈대회 The Speech Contest & Quiz Contest

말하기 대회가 4월 28일 10시부터 12시까지 심사위원들과 학부형님들을 모시고 교실에서 차분하고 조용한 분위기에서 진행되었습니다. 유치반 학생들을 비롯한 어린이반 학생들 그리고 성인반 학생들의 발표 능력이 뛰어나 보는 이들을 아주 흐뭇하게 했습니다. 그리고 각 반에서 진행된 퀴즈대회에서는 학생들의 한국 문화와 역사에 대한 이해도가 빛나기도 하였습니다. 다양한 상품으로 인해 퀴즈에 대한 학생들의 참여가 더 돋보이는 즐거운 시간이었습니다. 말하기대회 심사위원으로 수고해주신 이종석 한글학교 이사장님, 조규현 한인회장님, 강원희 한인 55+ 협회장님, 시간채점 류지영 이사님, 총점 집계 최지은 부이사장님과 김은희 이사님께 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 또한 강평을 해 주신 강원희 한인 55+ 협회장님과 김윤덕 박사님께도 감사드립니다. 그 외에 진행에 도움주신 최은형 학부모 회장님과 여수경 이사님도 감사드립니다. 다음은 이번 2017-18년도의 말하기대회 수상자입니다. 수상식은 6월 9일 종업식때 거행할 예정이오니 많이 참석하셔서 축하해주시면 감사하겠습니다.

The School held an annual Speech Contest on April 28^th, from 10 am to 12 pm in a classroom in the presence of the students’ parents. It was a great joy to experience the outstanding speaking skills of our students, from Kindergarten to Adult Classes. In the in-class quiz contest, students excelled in their knowledge of Korean culture and history. Prizes encouraged students all the more to participate in the quiz contest. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the following judges for their support and fair evaluations: Mr. Jongsuk Lee, Chair of the School Board, Mr. Kyuhyon Cho, President of the Korean Society, Ms. Wonhee Kang, President of The Korean Seniors & 55+ Center, Ms. Jiyoung Ryoo, Director, Ms. Jieun Choi, Vice Chair of the School Board, and Ms. Eunhee Kim, Director. My special appreciation goes to Ms. Wonhee Kang and Dr. Yuntuk Kim, who gave our students encouragement through a heartwarming address. Eunhyung Choi, President of the Parent Council, and Sukyung Yeo, Director also deserved our sincere gratitude for their help with the event. Below is the list of the winners of the Speech Contest for 2017-18. Prizes will be awarded at the Year End Ceremony on June 9, 2018.

최우수상 Grand Prize for the School’s Children and Adult Classes:

으뜸상 First Prize in Class: 이율아 (유치1반), 김서후 (유치2반), 고요셉 (초급1반), 윤하영 (초급2반), 임채은 (중급1반), 김종혁 (중급2반), 우재현 (고급반), 베네딕토 킴벌리 (성인초급반), 코르테츠 베아트리츠 (성인고급반)

버금상 Second Prize in class: 이린아 (중급1반)

본선참가상 The Final Participation Prize: 김유은 (유치1반), 우승균 (초급1반), 김종명, 임서은, 이민서 (중급1반), 남안 (중급2반), 김은수 (고급반), 나민혁 (성인고급반)

예선참가상 In-Class Participation Prize: 예선에 참가했으나 본선에 못 오른 학생들 This prize is for students who participated in the in-class preliminary round but did not make it to the in-school competition.

 

글동산 사진 찍는 날 Photo Day for the Yearbook “Geuldongsan”

5월 26일과6월 2일 이틀에 걸쳐 글동산에 올릴 사진촬영이 있사오니 꼭 출석할 수 있도록 협조 부탁드립니다. 학교에 못 오는 경우 개인 사진을 담임교사에게 이메일로 보내주시기 바랍니다.

May 26 and June 2 are scheduled for picture days for the yearbook “Geuldongsan.” Please have the students attend the photo session. Whoever misses the photo day, please send a picture to the homeroom teacher.

 

2차 시험 Final Exam

6월 2일에 제2차 시험이 있습니다.

Students will write the final exam on June 2. It will cover all materials taught throughout the school year.

정기총회 General Meeting

2017-2018 년도의 임시결산보고, 감사와 이사 선출 및 인준 등의 사안이 있으니 많은 참석 부탁드립니다.

On the agenda are a preliminary financial report for 2017-18 and the election and approval of auditors and directors. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

 

학예회 및 연간 프로젝트 발표 Talent Show & Year Project Presentation

총회가 끝난 후에는 학예회와 연간 프로젝트 발표 및 전시를 통하여 올 한해에 갈고 닦은 한글반 및 문화반 학생들의 실력을 선보이게 됩니다. 꼭 참석하셔서 학생들의 재능을 마음껏 즐기시기 바랍니다.

After the General Meeting students from each Korean and culture class will present their work. Please come and enjoy students’ performances and art works.

 

종업식 Year-End Ceremony

종업식에서는백일장, 말하기대회, 개근상, 정근상, 우등상 시상식과 자원봉사증서 수여식이 있습니다. 지각 결석 조퇴를 한 번도 안 한 학생들에게 개근상이, 지각/조퇴를2번 한 학생들에게 정근상이 수여됩니다. 우등상은 각반의 30%에 해당하는 학생들 중에서 최대 전체 평점의 최고득점자 3명에게 수여됩니다.아무 상도 받지 못한 학생들에게는 노력상품이 수여됩니다. 보조교사들의 열정적인 봉사에 다시 한번 진심으로 감사의 인사 전합니다.

At the awards ceremony, awards will be presented for the Creative Writing Competition, the Speech Contest, complete attendance, almost complete attendance and for excellence in school performance. Attendance awards will be given to those students who never missed classes, nor arrived late, or left early throughout the school year. Students with up to two late shows or early leaves will receive an almost complete attendance award. An Excellence Award will be given to the best three of the 30% of students with the highest scores in each class. Those who did not receive any awards will receive a small prize. Volunteer assistants will receive their volunteer certificates. The Korean School Community extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to all volunteers.

 

성적표배부 Distribution of report cards

종업식이 끝난 후 반별로 모여서 성적표 및 상장 상품 배부 그리고 자원봉사증서 배부가 있으니 각 반 담임교사에게서 받아가시기 바랍니다.

After the end of the ceremony, each homeroom teacher will hand out the students’ report cards, certificates and prizes as well as volunteer certificates.

 

2018-19년도 등록 신청

2018-19년도의 온라인 등록신청서가 한글학교 웹사이트 www.koschool.ca에 준비되어 있사오니 9월 8일까지 온라인등록을 해 주시기 바랍니다. 등록비는 개학 첫날 수업시작 전에 체크나 현금으로 지불하시면 됩니다. 체크의 payable 란에는 Manitoba Korean School Inc. 를 기입하여 주십시요.

Online registration is ready to accept registrations by September 8 at www.koschool.ca. The tuition fee is to be paid before class on September 15 in cash or by cheque, payable to Manitoba Korean School Inc.

 

정기총회 General Meeting

9월15일 오전 10시에 정기총회가 있습니다. 2017-18학년도 총결산보고와 2018-19학년도 예산안 및 학교사업보고가 총회에서 인준이 되어야만 하니 많은 참석 부탁드립니다. 총회가 끝난 후 각 반 학생들은 담임교사들의 인솔하에 한글반과 문화반 수업을 시작합니다. 올해에 보여주신 관심과 협조에 감사드리며 9월 15일 개학일에 모두 다시 만날 수 있기를 바랍니다.

A General Meeting will be taking place on September 15, at 10:00. The financial statement for 2017-18, and school programs and budget for 2018-19 will be reported and approved at the General Meeting. Your attendance is greatly appreciated. After the General Meeting, Korean language and culture classes will be held. Thank you for your interest and support you have shown this year. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.

금년 2017-2018년도부터 글동산이 유료로 배부됨을 알려드리오니 널리 양해해 주시면 감사하겠습니다. 아래의 글동산 구매 신청서를 작성하셔서 각 반 담임교사에게 제출하시고 5월 26일까지 총무에게 1부당 $20씩 현금이나 체크로 납부하시는 분만 글동산을 받으실 수 있습니다.
