안녕하세요.
새해 복 많이 받으시고 원하시는 일들이 모두 이루어지기를 바랍니다.
삼주간의 방학을 마치고 2학기를 맞이하였습니다. 이번 소식지에서는 지난 12월 13일에 있었던 방학식 소식과 1월, 2월 행사 및 3월 21일에 제출 마감일인 백일장에 대해 안내말씀을 드립니다.

The Manitoba Korean School community wishes you all a Happy New Year!

Hopefully you have had a great holiday break and are recharged for the second term. This newsletter announces the term end ceremony, held on December 13, the events scheduled for January and February, and the writing competition scheduled for March 21.

 방학식 Term End Ceremony

2014년 12월 13일 1차 평가를 마치고 학생들과 자원봉사자들 그리고 학부형님들을 모시고 12시-1시에 방학식을 했습니다. 학교에서 준비한 간식과 88마트팀에서 기부해주신 과자를 먹으며 전 학생들과 자원봉사자들 그리고 학부형님들께 방학인사를 전해드렸습니다. 한국간식을 협찬해 주신 88마트팀께 진심으로 감사의 말씀드립니다.

또한 한국어5반을 맡고 계신 한지훈교사께서 “왜 한글을 배우는가” 에 대한 주제로 열띤 강연도 해 주셨습니다. 한지훈교사는 현재 학부모반을 맡아 성공적인 자녀교육이란 주제로 매주 토요일 특활수업을 진행하고 있사오니 학부형님들의 많은 참여 부탁드립니다. 학부모반에 관심있으신 분들은 저희 임원진에게 말씀해 주십시요.

The Term End Ceremony was held on December 13, 2014, at 12 pm after the term test, with the students, volunteers, and parents. The School provided a snack bag and 88 Mart generously donated Korean snacks for everyone. The Principal wished all a relaxing holiday season. The School community extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the 88 Mart team for their generous contribution.

In addition, Mr. Jihoon Han, the homeroom teacher of Korean Class 5, gave an energetic presentation with the topic “Why do we learn Korean”. Mr. Jihoon teaches the Parents’ class with the theme of “how can we educate our children” as part of the activity/culture classes. Anyone interested in his class can register now.

 1학기 성적표 배부 Distribution of Report Cards for the First Term

2015년 1월 10일에 1학기 성적표가 배부됩니다. 1차 평가를 보지 않은 학생들은 1차 평가를 본 후에 성적표가 나가오니 학부형님들께서는 자녀분들이 빠른 시일내에 1차 평가를 볼 수 있도록 협조 부탁드립니다.

Report cards for the first term will be distributed in the first class on January 10. Those, who missed the term test in December, will receive the report cards after they write the test. Please have your child take the test as soon as possible.

 설날행사 브로셔용 학생과 자봉 및 교직원 전체사진 촬영 Picture-taking of all students, volunteers, staff and teachers for the brochure of the New Year events

1월 24일 12시에 복도에서 사진촬영이 있사오니 자녀분들 예쁘게 해서 보내주세요. On January 24 at noon we will take picture of all mentioned above in the hallway. Please send your children in their best attire.

 한글학교 기금마련 설날잔치 및 문화체험 New Year Fundraiser & Cultural Experience Day

2015년 2월 21일 토요일 오전 9시 30분부터 오후 1시까지 그랜트 파크 고등학교 대강당에서 한글학교 기금마련을 위한 설날행사가 있습니다.
1 부는 공연이 2부는 전 가족이 참여할 수 있는 다양한 문화체험 코너가 준비될 예정입니다. 그리고 문화테이블과 벼룩시장 및 간단한 점심식사가 준비되어 있사오니 부디 많이 오셔서 자리를 빛내 주시면 감사하겠습니다. 이번에는 학교 입구쪽에 있는 대강당에서 행사를 합니다. 입구에서 안내원들이 잘 찾아오실 수 있도록 도와드릴겁니다.
입장료는 무료입니다. 대신 문화체험과 점심식사는 쿠폰을 구입하셔서 하실 수 있습니다. 쿠폰은 당일에 리셉션 테이블에서 현금이나 체크 (cheque) 로 구입하실 수 있습니다.
설날행사는 한글학교 기금마련을 위한 행사입니다. 작은 정성이라도 소중하게 우리 학생들을 위해서 쓰겠습니다. 1월 31일까지 기부하시는 분들께는 설날행사 브로셔에 기부하신 분들의 이름과 필요하신 경우 광고도 올려드립니다. 기부에 대한 문의는 교장에게 이메일이나 (ykangbohr@gmail.com) 전화로 (204-930-1328) 연락주시면 됩니다.

부디 가족분들과 친지 친구분들과 함께 오셔서 우리 고유 명절인 설날잔치 행사를 위니펙 한인지역사회 뿐만 아니라 캐나다인 그리고 각 민족들에게 널리 알리는데 함께 할 수 있기를 진심으로 바랍니다.

The School is hosting the annual New Year Fundraiser and Cultural Experience Day on February 21, from 9:30am to 1pm at the Senior Gym at the entrance of Grant Park High School. Volunteers will assist you in finding the venue.

The first part showcases the beauty of Korean culture through dances, music, and Taekwondo, the Korean martial art. The second part presents a variety of cultural corners, where you can participate in and experience calligraphy and Korean games first-hand. To participate in the cultural activities and to partake of the lunch, you will need coupons. These can be purchased at the reception table on that day for cash and cheque only. In addition, a cultural display table and sales tables will be set up. There is no admission fee.

The New Year events are to raise funds for the School. We can assure you that your contribution will be used for our students and for the more effective operation of the School. We will acknowledge donors, who make contributions by January 31, in our brochure, expressing our sincere appreciation and gratitude. We will also reciprocate by advertising their businesses in our brochure, if applicable. Those, who donate after January 31, will receive our special gratitude along with the “early birds” in our newsletter for March and April as well as our website www.koschool.ca-news-donorslist. 백일장 Writing Competition

올해 처음으로 백일장을 시도합니다. 원래는 백일장 당일에 학생들이 글짓기를 하여 제출을 하는 것이 원칙이나 한글학교의 사정상 학생들이 집에서 준비하여 3월 21일까지 제출하도록 했습니다. 2학기 첫수업인 1월 10일에 5매의 원고지가 각 학생들에게 배부되오니 이 원고지에 최종글을 집필할 수 있도록 해 주시기 부탁드립니다. 원고지가 더 필요한 경우 임원진에게 추가로 요청하시거나 홈페이지 < www.koschool.ca-학교소식-학교소식-백일장공고입니다> 에서 다운받아 출력해서 이용할 수 있습니다. 학생들이 학부모님들의 도움 없이 자율적으로 자유롭게 글을 쓸 수 있도록 해 주시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 백일장 마감일 전에 각 담당교사들이 원고지 사용법에 대한 지도를 해 주실 겁니다. 백일장 공모내용은 다음과 같습니다.

공모대상: 한글학교 전 학생 (유치1, 2, 한국어1, 기초반 제외)

공모내용: 시, 수필, 소설

주제: 자유주제

분량: 시: 5매 내외        수필: 5~10매 내외          소설: 50매 내외 (200자 원고지 기준)

시상내역: 최우수상 한 명, 으뜸상, 버금상, 노력상, 특별상

심사내용: 독창성, 창의적인 사고, 창의적인 표현, 주제에 대한 이해, 바른 글씨체

마감일: 3월 21일 수업시간

This year, the School introduces a Writing Competition for the first time. Students can prepare texts and submit them on March 21. Five sheets of the required special stationary will be distributed to each student in the first class on January 10 to use for this competition. Please ensure that your children use these papers for the final version of their writing. If there is more need for these papers, you can request them from the staff or download them from the School’s website at www.koschool.ca-news-news-Call for Papers for Writing Competition and print them out. I also would like to advise you not to interfere in their writing but let them write freely on their own. The adult students are advised to write their own essays as well. Each homeroom teacher will teach the students how to use the special paper. Below are the details for the writing competition.

Participants: All students except for Kindergarten 1, Kindergarten 2, Korean Class 1, and Basic Class

Genre: Poem, essay, novel

Topic: Free topic

Quantity: Poem: Approx. 5 pp.; essay: approx. 5-10 pp.; novel: approx. 50 pp. (200-sillable paper)

Prizes: One Grand Prize, Second Prizes, Third Prizes, Encouragement Prizes, Special Prizes

Evaluation criteria: Originality, creative thinking, creative writing, understanding of the topic chosen, hand writing

Deadline: March 21
