안녕하세요.

개학한 지 어느덧 두달이 되었습니다. 한글반과 문화반 수업이 자리를 잡고 수업을 이어가고 있습니다. 특히 서예반과 사물놀이반은 성인이 참가하여 배울 수 있는 좋은 기회이니 앞으로 학부모님들의 많은 홍보와 참여 부탁드립니다. 또한 새로 신설된 문예창작반을 통하여 많은 학생들이 문학적 감성과 재질을 키워나갈 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 이번 소식지에서는 11월, 12월에 있을 학교 행사에 대해 안내해 드리겠습니다.

11월 12일, 12월 24일과 31일, 1월 7일은 휴교입니다.

추워지는 날씨에 건강 유의하시기 바랍니다.

Two months have passed since the new school year started. All Korean language and cultural classes have settled in and have been running as scheduled. May we remind you that the Calligraphy and the Korean Percussion Classes are a great opportunity to learn, especially for adults? We would like to encourage you to spread the word and participate in these classes yourselves. Furthermore, we wish that many students can take advantage of the newly introduced Creative Writing Class to develop their literary talents. This newsletter introduces the school events scheduled for November and December.

There is no school on November 12, December 24, 31, and January 7.

11월 5일 캐나다 현충일 기념행사 Remembrance Day Event: November 5, 11:50am-1:10pm, Cafeteria, Grant Park High School

캐나다 현충일을 맞아 한글학교에서는 작년에 이어 한국전쟁에서 싸워주신 참전용사와의 만남을 진행합니다. 전교생과 학부형을 비롯한 한글학교 공동체가 참전용사들과 한인단체장들과 노인회원을 모시고 참전용사들의 용기와 희생에 감사하며, 장렬하게 전사한 분들을 추모하는 시간도 갖습니다. 학부모님들의 많은 참여와 관심 부탁드립니다.

***문화반수업은 취소됩니다. 참석 못하시는 분께서는 1시10분에 자녀분들 데리러 오시면 됩니다.

To celebrate Remembrance Day, Canadian veterans from the Korean War are invited to meet with our students at the Korean School. In the presence of Korean community leaders and members of the Korean Seniors Association, the School community extends its sincere appreciation to the Korean War Veterans and commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for Korea during the war. Furthermore, students will have an opportunity to listen to a veteran’s experiences and show their gratitude to the veterans. Parents’ participation is kindly appreciated.

***All cultural classes are cancelled. Those, who cannot attend, can pick up their children at 1:10pm.

11월 학부모/성인반 학생 상담 Parents/Adult Class-Teacher Meeting, November

지난10월중순부터11월중에학부모님들과성인반학생들은담임교사와상담시간을갖습니다. 자녀분들의수업성과나학교생활에대해담임교사와공유하며의견을제안하거나나누실수있습니다. 학부형님들의의견이자녀분들의보다효율적인수업진행에도움이될수있사오니바쁘시더라도학교에오셔서담임교사와의면담을꼭가질수있도록부탁드립니다. 학교에오실수없는분들께서는담임교사와전화로면담을해주시기바랍니다.

성인반학생들도마찬가지로담임교사와의면담을통하여학생들의수업성취도가어느정도인지그리고전반적인수업에대해의견을나눌수있습니다. 학생들의의견이담임교사들이앞으로도계속수업을진행해가는데큰도움이될수있으니적극적인참여부탁드립니다.

Parents/Adult Class-Teacher meetings continue to be held throughout November. Parents and adult students meet with the homeroom teacher in person and share students’ performances and accomplishments in class. This meeting also offers an opportunity to exchange suggestions between the teachers and the parents on the one hand and adult students on the other. The feedback of parents and adult students can be useful for teachers to develop more effective teaching approaches. Therefore, it is highly recommended that parents and adult students come to the meetings at their convenience and share ideas with the teacher. Meetings can be held via phone, should the parents have no time to come to the school.

12월 17일: 제1차 시험 The first test, December 17

12월 17일에 1학기 동안 배웠던 내용들에 대한 평가시험이 있으니 댁에서 잘 준비시켜 주시기 바랍니다. 평가 후에 간단히 1학기 종강파티가 각 반별로 있습니다. 간단한 간식과 음료는 학교에서 제공됩니다. 1월 14일이 개학일이오니 참고하시기 바랍니다.

The first test is scheduled for December 17, 2016. Please help your children with the class materials taught during the first term. After the test, there will be an in-class term-end party. Snacks and drinks will be provided by the School. Note that the school reopens on January 14.
